Silhouette (2018)

The Silhouette Cameo 3 is a machine used to cut paper, card stock and vinyl. You can also scan printed materials and the silhouette will cut our your image as well as do much more with the machine.

Using the Silhouette Studio on the computer students select a design they like and then proceed to use the instructions given to them to make a design. After securing a design for their furnished t-shirts, they send their design from the computer to the Silhouette to cut out their designs, the students then load the mat vinyl into the machine. After they cut out their heat transfer vinyl designs, and weed out the excess vinyl from the design, they are shown how to utilize the Circut EasyPress to iron their transfer onto a t-shirt.

First Session – April 26th, 2018

In the first session, four students had the opportunity to learn how to use the Silhouette Cameo. The children had a lot of fun learning the scope of the project and were excited to know that the library would be offering more classes on the Silhouette. They each wanted to model their shirts and posed with the library’s director to show how proud they were of their accomplishments.

Second Session – May 3rd, 2018

In this session, three additional students were in the class to learn how to use the Silhouette. Following the written instructions given to them by the class instructor, they chose and printed their design. After using the weeding tools they perfected their design and pressed them onto their t-shirts. Their designs were chosen and were the same as their favorite sport or animal.

Third Session – May 10th, 2018

Six students were given a choice to make an apron or tote bag for Mom for Mother’s Day. Following the instructions and utilizing their own personal expressions of love and laughter they finalized an apron masterpiece or an awesome bag gear especially for their Mom. They had a lot of fun thinking about and choosing what to say and what to give their Mom. It was a great learning experience for them.

Fourth Session – May 30th, 2018

Three students came to this session to make a t-shirt that expressed who the were and what they like. The previously had made Mom a Mother’s Day gift. Since the had utilized the Silhouette before, they used their previous knowledge and made a t-shirt for themselves. It was good to see that the students remembered what to do a jumped right in with very little help and finished their projects in record time.
